Aim: To promote inclusivity through the exploration of positive role models’ professional and personal experience, providing an understanding of how these have overcome similar challenges/inequalities.

Beneficiary: Children from ethnic minorities and disadvantaged backgrounds.

Collaborator: Ernst & Young

About: Role Models is an interactive relationship-building project that focuses on beneficiaries from ethnic minorities and disadvantaged backgrounds.

It aims to inspire young minds by organizing online talks in schools with positive role models who will give talks about their careers and their work, education, and personal experience.

The children can ask questions to find out more about their process and we want to ensure that the professionals brought in are from a diverse group (with great focus on minority backgrounds and female representation) so that all the children feel represented.

Furthermore, the project is supported by a programme that focuses on in-depth careers advice. Children have the opportunity to discuss their ambitions 1:1 and learn about how to get there, thereby identifying potential paths they would like to pursue.

The project has secured one of the winning positions of the Enactus EY partner competition, where it was granted funding and the support and mentorship of Ernst & Young, with the involvement of EY role models in the project.

The project has three distinct streams:

  1. Events Management: Responsible for coordinating and organizing online talks in schools.

  2. Career Counselling: Responsible for in-depth careers advice and supporting beneficiaries with applications for scholarships/student finance/maintenance loans/funding.

  3. Impact Assessment: To analyze the data in the form of questionnaires that will be provided to both students and teachers and produce relevant conclusions with regards to student receptiveness and behavior on a weekly basis, so that improvements can be made in an iterative approach that aims to maximize the effectiveness of all project streams.
